Rhapsody In Blue - by George Gershwin
Background information:
When George Gershwin wrote RHAPSODY IN BLUE, one of his most famous pieces of music, in 1924, he was creating a "musical painting." Instead of using paint and brushes, he used pitches, rhythms, and musical instruments to create a picture in the listener's imagination.
Many years later, in the year 2000, Disney created an animated movie to go along with this famous piece of music. The movie shows one way to interpret Gershwin's musical painting by telling the story of four different characters.
Assignment:
On the viewing guide (link below), or a blank piece of paper,
2. Character's Problem - What does each character want to do, or need to get?
3. Character's Solution - How does each character get what they want?
